I have NEVER tried surfing b/c I have a "slight" fear of water... almost drowned when I was 6... SO, living in HI, I feel like I'm missing out by not at least TRYING to surf... So, I would love to have an expert take me out to some remote beach for a day (or two) and teach me how to SURF!!

That's cool...lived here for 30 years and to be honest, I have only been surfing 3 times. I can boogieboard but surfing is a whole new experience. I got caught on the reef the last time and ended up scratching my friends back w/ the board as he tried to free me.
