Coming to American

when did your family come to america and from where??

Honestly, I have no idea. My birth father supposedly is German. My mom can only tell me that her great grandmother was Cherokee. Sad, really, that I don't know my ancestry...

I'm going to guess I'm just a great big melting pot...

The Last Reflection

I really enjoyed getting little mini-lessons from Richard and Dana this past week. Richard is so "easy" when he's teaching, and the use of personal examples to demonstrate the many issues of DE. Essentially, as has been discussed many times before, issues within DE occur primarily because of poor planning and implementation by the teacher (and student as relevant). I REALLY appreciated Dana's lesson because she showed me a new use for the Copyright Bay sight... had no clue that it contained those awesome little interactive "quizzes"!! It's a good way to insure you have a better understanding of copyright laws...

Okay, think that's it... gonna miss this class... BTW, need to get a twitter account too!!

(sorry for the title... am watching a program on the Ten Commandments, and "The Last Supper" popped into my head)

Lessons from an expert...

In which activity would you like a lesson from an expert??

I have NEVER tried surfing b/c I have a "slight" fear of water... almost drowned when I was 6... SO, living in HI, I feel like I'm missing out by not at least TRYING to surf... So, I would love to have an expert take me out to some remote beach for a day (or two) and teach me how to SURF!!

another one bites the dust...

My week two with MTE549 was super enjoyable, as always... (you rock, Darrin!!)

I really walked away with the realization that it really doesn't matter what technology is used with DE; it's what the teacher (and student) does with that technology. You could have every cool widget at the tip of your fingers, but if your teacher doesn't use it in a way that can relate to the student and enhance their learning experience, the widget is wasted...

I also am grateful for all of the cool sites Darrin introduced us to... plan on using some of them in my future classrooms....

Can you guys tell I like to use ... ?? :)

Brilliant!!

if you could be brilliant in one subject... which would you choose...

I would choose LITERATURE because I LOVE IT!! I love to read and discuss... so if I were brilliant at it (especially Jane Austen), I would EASILY acquire a ph.d and become a BRILLIANT professor of literature... boring, huh?

To Be or Not To Be: The Virtual Classroom

Okay, so we know the benefits of a virtual classroom... as teachers, do you think it is too much extra work on top of everything else we have to do?
